New firmware for LiteOn LTR-52246S, LTR-48125W, LTR-40125W

Versions R526S0F, R48VS0D and R40WS0B respectively are now on the LiteOn server: http://www.liteonit.com/english/e-down-f.asp?show=1, all "match more media". From the file size, they are probably based on Karr Wang's new flasher.

Reports at CDFreaks indicate that the "overburning bug" seems to be fixed as well.

When trying to run this, the FW Updater simply crashes for me.

I'm using XP Pro SP1 with all the updates. 522452 is on a firewire enclosure ... previosuly the updaters had no problem updating my firmware.

Anyone else have a problem with this updater?

Mine has worked fine with XP pro sp1 but I don't have any of mine in a firewire setup.
Maybe you should try the dual mode Winflasher and see if it works.

The FW Updater worked fine for me. The only problem i had is that after installing the firmware the writer could only burn my cdrs at 32x rather than the 52x as it usually did, so i had to revert back to my old firmware (6S0D).

mine still does 52 with the Maxell/ritek I got cheap at Circuit City this week. It also appears to burn with even fewer errors, or at least as well as before.

Here, 6S0F works fine with CDR's, but 24x RW is showing 2-3 times as many C1 errors as 6S0D. I went back to 6S0D.

Well, the new firmware flasher did work on a Lite-On drive in a FireWire enclosure, at least in my case!

I've just used VS0D.exe (extracted from R48VS0D.zip) successfully in the following configuration.

My Lite-On LTR-48125W sits in an external IEEE 1394 (FireWire) enclosure with the Oxford bridge OXFW911 (ME-320F from www.welland.com.tw) connected to the IEEE 1394 port of Dell's Latitude C840, running Windows XP Pro SP1.

I have never installed any system ASPI, just Nero Burning ROM 5.5.10.28 and InCD 5.52.40.

Nero installs its own ASPI drivers I believe...

i had the same problem of not being able to run the firmware update a while back, and Lite-On told me to stop all running software, such as
Nero's IN-CD program, DLA, Norton Anti-Virus, or any program that uses the cd-rom drive/burner such as MusicMatch, any of these program can and will cause the cd firmware update not to install

Hope this information will help those who have had problems installing the firmware updates

I downloaded the one for the 48125W, and the flasher looks a lot different from the old Lite-On ones. I haven't tried Karr Wang's flasher, so I don't know if it is the same.

Edit: I just got a 48125W yesterday (came with an old PC that I bought), and the VS0D flasher worked perfectly under Windows 98.

Any firmwares released by Lite-ON after 5/4/2003 are based on the new flasher.

How do you change back to the old firmware?
