Canadian Beef

Postby ChrisX on Tue May 20, 2003 11:34 pm

I just noticed that Canadian beef imports is banned in Australia due to the mad cow disease scare. The US already had done so, ban the imports of beef.

Are we alarmist?

I'm not picking on the Canadians at all, just unlucky with the mad cow disease.

I'm not sure how widespread the problem is in Canada. I do seem see the Australian Government tend to over react on a number issues lately otherwise politically taking advantage. The Sept 11th and asylum seekers are examples.

The Government is a disgrace using disasters and the vulnerable and these should never be used.

Anyway, the ban is the right direction and this seem to be alarmist to me. We don't get much beef from Canada as we got our own cattle.

I didn't mean it the way it sounded.

I think we should take precautions.

I think the general pop here won't be worried b/c that cow was too old to go into the mainstream meat market.

I highly recommend you click above...& turn the sound up LOUD.

1 cow.

1 stinking cow caused this.

The government slaughtered the whole herd, and quarantined 9 others surrounding the ranch for testing.

It's far from the British scare from 1996.

I read that our last Mad Cow was discovered over 10 years ago.

Japan had a Mad Cow problem in 2001, did anyone read about it?
Spain got it in 2000.

All I can say is, T-Bone & NY Strip has never been this cheap in years!
