Does Pioneer manufacture its own hardware?

Postby articulate on Tue Jun 10, 2003 9:41 am

Does anyone know if another manufacturer produces the DVR-105 for Pioneer, or if it really makes its own hardware?
I know e.g. that Liteon makes the Sony DDU-1612, and I wonder if Pioneer drives could really be something else....

Pioneer make their own hardware. They were one of the first to market with a DVDR recorder if not the first (not sure if Panasonic had a DVDR recorder at the same time or if they were still on -RAM back then).

I'm sure they outsource manufacturing like the majority of tech companies, but they do design their own drives.
