ASUS P4P800 Deluxe

I'm thinking about getting the mobo because I want to "prepare for the
future" and be ready for a DVD burner very near in the future.
Do I need an 8X video card? I'm looking at the FX-5200 with 128MB.
Prices are so close between any 2 cards I figure it's worth the extra $20.00 the difference is.
I guess they say to get as much memory as you can afford so 512MB
400mhz is the route to go.
I'm pretty much decided on the above system and just wanted to see
what others had to say.
Thanks for your input.

Most of the new video cards support 8x AGP. Do you "need" it? I really haven't heard of anyone seeing any noticeable difference.

You said 2 cards. What else are you looking at other than the FX 5200?

I would recommend the Abit IC-7 over the Asus if you already have an audio card and NIC.

Be very sure what kind of FX 5200 you got, there are different versions, with different clock speeds !! I even thing there are some 64bit versions (or is that just with the 64mb version the case ??)

If you play games, get at least the Ultra, the 5200 is the new gf mx, or tnt2 m64. DX9, but slow.

Thanks for everyone's input. I'm going to stick with the ASUS and get a
whole new system so everything will work together. I'm waiting for prices
to drop.
