Nero Doesn't Support 4x? (Please Read)

Postby nXt on Sat Jun 14, 2003 4:49 am

Ok, been burning lots of dvd backups with nero using some Princo 4x dvd-r. Nero lets me pick 1x, 2x, and 4x with it. I pick 4x, and it burns in 30 minutes, which is 2x speed. I pick 2x, and it also burns 30 minutes.

I made an iso, used Ulead DVD Movie Factory, using same media, I pick 4x, and it burns in 15 minutes. Anyone know what's going on?

Using DRU-510A (and before you reply, I'm using the latest Nero)

Nero and/or the drive are limiting the writespeed because it cannot burn reliably to the Princo media aka a media compatibility issue. Nearly every drive has the feature as do CD burners.

Also, if it's protected, write times can take longer as well. I hope you're checking the baclups before you put them away. Doin 1-1 copies of protected media is a bad idea.

Get better media if you want to burn @ 4X. If you don't want to deal with write issues, stick to Ritek 4X -R www.rima.com

According to meritline or supermediastore (I forgot which one),
the DRU-500A can, as of now, only burn the Princo 4X media at 2X.

A number of other 4X burners (such as the A05) can burn them at 4X.
Burners only:
Pioneer DVR-115D
Pioneer DVR-111D
Plextor PX-716A TLA0304
Plextor PX-716A same TLA

LiteOn 52246S (another)
LiteOn 52327S 52X CD-RW
TDK 40X USB 2.0 CD-RW
TEAC CD-W540E 40X CD-RW
