In House Review - CIS Arrgo 52/24/52 CD-RW

Postby Ian on Mon Jun 30, 2003 7:51 am

To kick off the week, CDRLabs has taken a look at the Arrgo 52/24/52 from CIS. As the name suggests, the Arrgo reads and writes at 52x and rewrites at 24x. Of course, CIS's new drive isn't just about speed. The Arrgo 52/24/52 also has features like Super Link buffer underrun protection, a 2MB buffer and support for the Mt. Rainier format.

In this review we take a closer look at the features found on the Arrgo 52/24/52 and then put it up against some of the 52x writers from the competition. Is CIS's new CD-RW in your future? You'll have to read the review to find out.

Before you ask, I'm not really sure how CIS and CyberDrive are related. Both companies seem to use very similar drive designs.

Ye, good question - are Arrgo and Cyber are the same? It seams tha at least firmware the same.
I'v seen the CyberDrive CW068D and its firmware said that its "CyberDrv CW068D CD-R/RW" and we got here "CD-R/RW CW099D CD-R/RW" - what do you think?
I guess the thing is clear...

Ian- does CD-Doctor work with this drive? It has a MediaTek chipset and the Dr. works with some Sanyo drives in addition to the LiteOns.

Haven't tried it. I don't use CD-Doctor very much.
