Look at this graph of a GigaRec disk being read in an LTD-163D. That's awesome!

I'm not sure what those lines are, maybe the lengths of different disks that I have tested?

The Read Test works with other drives. I doubght the C1/C2 test and such work.

The Settings menu for other drives lets you select a read speed, like in Nero DriveSpeed. It also allows you to turn DMA On/Off.

very nice!
but for this info to be at all useful, we need to know at what GigaRec setting your disc was burned ? 1.2x, 1.3x or 1.4x ?

thanks.

the 1.2x GigaRec doesn't give a higher capacity than a 99min CDR (lower, actually).
i would be interested to see if you LiteOn DVD-ROM can read GigaRec discs written at 1.3x and 1.4x. Ian in his review of the Premium says that compatibility of such discs with other drives is very low or nonexistent...

When I have something to burn at 1.3x or 1.4x I'll get back to you on whether it reads it and if so, at what speed.I may just burn something at 1.4x just for the heck of it
