Smart-Burn Question

Postby Infinity on Fri Jul 25, 2003 9:04 pm

I just purchased the new Lite-On 52x32x52 writer. This is my first burner that has Smart-Burn, so I am just a little confused. I understand what it does and it will definitly be beneficial to me, as I have lots of old media and i have no clue what speed they are rated for. Anyway, heres my question:

I noticed that Nero has an option to enable/disable Smart-Burn. Does this mean that the burning software has to have support for Smart-Burn for it to work, or will the drive do it automatically? The reason I ask is that I didn't see an option in CDRWin for Smart-Burn, so does that mean that Smart-Burn won't be used when using CDRWin?

Thanks!

It's more of a hardware level thing that can be disabled if needed. If the software doesn't have the option of disabling it, then it will be on.

In CDRWin, make sure that the "Underrun Protection" box is checked in the Record Disc dialog.
