Hello all,
I had been waiting for a legit firmware update from NEC for my ND1300A. I don't use that drive for anything else other than recording, so the ability to change burn speeds, rip speeds, media compatibility, region codes, etc. is not particularly important to me -- what the drive offers natively is just fine with me.
I was excited to see that NEC made a new firmware available. When I went to download it, however, I got the following error message:
[Note: This message has been translated from German]
*****BEGIN OF PASTE*****
Very honored customers, who Firmwareupdate 1.06 (NEC ND13_106.exe) of the 18 July 2003 for the format
independent 4-fach-DVD-Brenner ND-1300A damaged the drives in single felling in the Flash process. To the
clarification of the mistake, NEC took the Firmwareupdate of the websites.
If the installation already successfully was carried out with you, there are no objections. The mistake
appeared only during the installation.
*****END OF PASTE*****
So if you've already flashed your drive successfully, consider yourself lucky. If you haven't flashed your drive yet, you might want to hold off until NEC irons this issue out.
