Monitor Flashing On and Off

Postby aviationwiz on Fri Jul 25, 2003 11:54 pm

My monitor keeps flashing on and off when I'm using it.

Does anyone else have this problem, or heard of this problem?

It's either degaussing or going out of synch with your video card. Try reinstalling your video card drivers and installing an .inf for the monitor via the device manager. If you're overclocking it or overvolting it, that could also cause a similar problem... or it just could be going plain bad.

Beleve it or not I'v seen another couse for the monitor to be flashing. I had to fix one time a friend replaced his video card but did not secure it properly the card was working it's way out of the slot which was cousing his monitor to flash on and off.

What brand and size of monitor do you have? What is your monitor actually doing? Describe in detail what your monitor is doing?

The Gateway 2000 monitors EV500 15" and EV700 17" are actually NEC monitors and they have a mis-firing picture tube that will cause the screen to go pink and flip back and forth. Usually if you give the top or side of the monitor a good wrap with your hand this takes care of the problem.

Let me know what is going on with your monitor.

Have you tried this monitor on a different computer, or have you tried a different monitor?
