Well, it's not that simple. For the game to work on your PS2 you need to make an image of the game and the burn it. Some games have protection that are triggered when you try to make an image. You'l be able to do the image and it won't report any error but when you burn it the game won't play. I wont go into details why and how this happens cause i don't think it's what you want. In fact this was a well known method for PS1 games...

What you have to make sure is that the game doesn't have copy protections (nowadays it's difficult to find a game that doesn't have) and if it do than get th correct patch, patch the image and then burn it to the dvd...

To burn the dvd, i think you can use Nero 6 or anyother good dvd burning software. It shouldn't make a difference. It's in the image building that trick is...

Good Luck! ;)

What do you mean when you say "Some games have protection that are triggered when you try to make an image".. doesn't the magic 3.6 and dmsv3 already take care of this problem?
also "You'l be able to do the image and it won't report any error but when you burn it the game won't play. I wont go into details why and how this happens cause i don't think it's what you want" can you tell us why?

Ok, so PS2 games are like PS1 games, well at list the way to copy them… Of course that PS2 games are more complete and so on …..
When you copy a recent PS1 game you need to patch it otherwise the game wont work. Because when you make the image from the CD, there’s a little program that will prevent the game from working when you burn it to the CD. The way to bypass this protection is to get a patch, run it over the image file and then burn it.
PS2 games work like this (simplifying things…). First you need to check if the game has any protection. I used to use copyprotection but that was long ago and I haven’t made a ”backup” from my ORIGINAL games in a while now… After you know what kind of protection the games has you need to get the correct patch.. For this I use gamescopyworld (also, there’s a tutorial how to backup your original games there). Then you would run the patch over the iso file (image file) and then you could burn with what program you want. I used to use either Nero or CDr-Win but haven’t done that for a while… Maybe things are changed (a really don’t think so) but in a simple matter this is the way to do it…

I don’t think so… They don’t deal with DVD protection but PS protections… for instance they bypass the CD read info (the code that reports to the PS2 chip ifit should play the cd or not), introducing a code “forces” the PS2 chip to read it…
The latest version of magic also enables automatically PAL/NTSC option and a lot more things… I have several links at home, if you want I can post them for you to check out… hope they still work….

Good Luck!!!

noua, patching is kind of old. i see you havent made a ps1/2 copy in a while. is this correct? almost all new burners can do subchannel data and burn in raw dao meaning patches are no longer needed unless you have a really old cdrw drive.

I haven't done a Ps1/Ps2 copy within 7 months and I used to do it on my olg HP 8100+. I bought my Plextor 48x24x48x in December and burned aroun 60 games copies... Of course these were copies of copies so i didn't had any problem with patching....

burners can do subchannel data and burn in raw dao

I don't think it has to do with subchanel data and raw mode because my Hp does that....
