I haven't tested many. I first tested Princo DVD-R 4x with NEC ND-1300A firmware v1.05 and v1.06. With v1.05 firmware, as already known, ND-1300A could write at 2x only. Updated to v1.06, the same drive could write to Princo 4x DVD-R (latest batch from Taiwan) at 4x speed. Princo 2x speed DVD-RW media failed at 2x even with the 1.06 firmware for ND-1300A. Nero 6 allowed 1x speed only. Just as Princo warned me before, NEC drives could not write at 2x to Princo 2x DVD-RW media but Pioneer could. Both recording and playing went without any noticeable problem. Princo seemed a little more confident with these products than before. They are now more sure about quality control. The unit price is under US$1 usually. If you buy more than 100K units for each type at once, about US$0.8 per unit, excluding shipping and tax.
