In CDFreaks, some have mentioned difficulty in installing 5.5.10.50 over earlier versions without first uninstalling the earlier version.

Is it necessary to uninstall the earlier version first?

Alao, somebody mentioned that installing 5.5.10.5o blew away their serial number.

Anybody see documentation on the proper procedure for installing 5.5.10.50, if one already has 5.5.x.y installed?

What about a fix to InCD that fixes the date bug and works with pre-Nero 6?

I installed 5.5.10.50 over 5.5.10.42 on two of my computers without any difficulty.

As far as InCD is concerned, just use a 3.5.x version until 4.x becomes more stable. You can download InCD 3.5.1.91 from the Nero web site.

Edit: there isn't any link to this version of InCD on the actual web site, but the link I provided still works.

If you are concerned about losing the serial number during the upgrade, simply write it down before beginning the upgrade. It can be found as the named value "Serial5" in the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ahead\Nero - Burning Rom\Info.

Then you can re-enter it after upgrading by selecting "Help"->"Enter new serial number..." in Nero.

I just download and installed Nero 5.5.10.50 and Nero Vision Express 1.0.4.6g yesterday. I also noticed that they now have InCD version 4.0.1.21 and Nero Media Player version 1.4.0.5. Awhile back I downloaded InCD version 4.0.1.7 but it was buggy so I switched back to 3.5.2.40. Does anyone know whether you can use InCD 4.0.1.21 with Nero 5.5? Also I have Nero Media Player version 1.2214, I download version 1.4.0.5 (hopefully the engish version) but I have not installed it. Can Nero Media Player 1.4.0.5 be used with Nero 5.5?

I don't know the answers to all of your questions, but I know that the new version of InCD will work with Nero 5.5. It's still buggy, though.

I just installed Nero Media player 1.4.0.5 and it wanted me uninstall version 1.2214 first (so it looks like it can't install the new version on top of the old version). I then tried it again and after it installed I ran it, the interfaced appeared on screen but also an information window asking me to type in my name, organization, and serial number. After I typed in the information ( I used my Nero 5.5 serial number), I got another screen that stated my Demo version had expired and for me to purchase a new key. I click "exit" and the program interface along with the message window disappears. This happens everytime I run Nero Media player - it asks for the information to be entered (the bottom has the buttons: Demo, OK (grayed out) and exit.) It will not allow me to run version 1.4.0.5 although I should by Nero's definition, I am updating from 1.2 to 1.4, it is not an upgrade from 1.2 to 2.0. So, in the end, I uninstalled 1.4.0.5 and reinstalled 1.2214. (This sucks  )
