Toshiba SD-M1712/B What's the difference?

Postby xman on Sat Sep 06, 2003 1:14 pm

Is there any difference between a Toshiba SD-M1712 and SD-M1712B? Do they share the same firmware? Does the SD-M1712B support the no speed limit hack firmware. The hack firmware only says its for SD-M1712, will it work for the SD-M1712B?

The SD-M1712B might be a RevB drive... Toshiba makes drives of different revisions...

DISCInfo, made by Hijacker, who also makes patched firmwares for Toshibas, will tell you the revision of your Toshiba desktop DVD-ROM drive.

There's only one revision of SD-M1712. The letter B at the end of the name is usually used for a drive with a BLACK bezel, sometimes for BULK (OEM) drive. OEMs are made in China, retail ones are made in Japan (at least mine is).

SD-M1712 reads DVD+R(W) with any available firmware, even original one.

i just found a short while ago the DiscInfo page and read there that it says (new versions anyway) which revision the drive is.
