LG GCE 52/24/52 - it's quite strange ?

I have just bought a LG GCE 52/24/52 CD-R/ RW.
I have installed it on a Win XP and run nero burning rom 6.0.0.15 Ult Edt.
When I want to choose a burn speed, I see maximum write speed is 40x.
but I know my cd-r is support 48x.
So, I have closed the NERO and Open the LG GCE properties from the control panel and I also see the max write speed is 40x again.

Please help me.
Where is the problem ? Why can't I see over 40x ?

Welcome to CDRLabs!

Your drive doesn't believe that the discs you are using are good enough to burn at 48x, so it is limiting the speed to 40x. This is a normal behavior. Use different discs if you want to burn at 52x or 48x.

CDRecorder cant you force the drive to write at any speed we wish,irrespective of the CD-R?

Yes, you can with some drives, but I don't know if you can do it with all of them. In any case, I've always gotten poor recording quality when I've done this (which hasn't been many times).
