TDK 4x DVD+R Hot Deal at Microcenter

Postby peekabo2002 on Thu Oct 02, 2003 1:48 am

Hi All,
Just a FYI - a 5pack TDK 4x DVD+R with case is $5.99 at Microcenter this week. They are made by Ricoh(RicohJPN) same as the 4x Memorex DVD+R 25 spindle @ Amazon which is $29.99 with Free Shipping. Both are good deals. The one is Amazon which states that the Shipping is 1-2 weeks is not accurate. I ordered on Tuesday and it is shipped on Wednesday, projected delivery is this Friday. I think that must be a typo-error on Amazon's site. Anyway, the TDK works great and I can play the backed up movies on every dvd player and dvd-rom I came across. Enjoy...

I think that the projected delivery date is their bait & switch on the free shipping offer. They want to make it look unattractive on a basis of timeliness in the hope that you will pay for quicker delivery. However, I think that these orders are usually filled without delay. That is, I don't think that they put "free shipping" orders on hold for a few days so that they are delivered to the projected schedule.

The microcenter deal is very good for TDK 4X +R media, except for the fact that they charge shipping, unlike amazon, and even increasing the quantity of discs ordered in order to spread the shipping charges across more discs doesn't help much. I tried it in the past with Verbatim media.

If you live near one, however, it is much better :)
