problems recording CDs, help me please

Postby silvah on Wed Oct 01, 2003 9:29 pm

I've been experiencing a problem recording cds: everytime I burn a cd the software says "recorded sucessfully" meaning no errors recording the cd, but the cd check always fail, there's at least one file different if compared to original(is different, i did the crc check to make sure). I tought that was the drive, but it happens even with a new drive(the old is a LG 8080b and the new a LG 8523b), trying to solve the problem i've tested some softwares, and there is the weird thing: with Nero 6.0/5.5, easy cd 6.0, winoncd 6.0 the problem appears, but with winoncd 3.8 it records fine without problems(all files have a identical crc). Any clue?
The system is:
duron 850
Soyo K7VTA-B(KT133)
Quantum 13gb
Seagate 40gb
SB live value
Gf 2 MX400
windows 2000 SP4

What exactly are you burning? Data, audio, other? If it's data, are you burning an ISO? Are you positive the source file is not corrupt?

Also, what blank media are you using? Have you tried other kinds?

Data, from iso and normal files, the source is not corrupt for sure.

And i've tried other medias(was the first try to solve the problem).

You might also want to try another IDE cable. If your IDE cable is damaged, I would think that it could be causing this problem.

Reinstall your OS.
A man has been charged after allegedly punching a 73-year-old woman in the face, breaking her nose and stabbing her in the arm with a corkscrew before hitting a second woman with a bottle at a wedding reception in the Whitsunday Islands.

I don't know what else to say. I guess you'll have to use Winoncd 3.8 since it works. :-?

Thanks anyway to everyone...
I gave up trying to solve this problem, i did the easer way(winoncd 3.8 works, but nero is by far my favorite burner and have lots of features than wocd 3.8):
mantain an installation of win98 just to burn cds and emergency, it's working very well, not much pratical but works...

About 2 years ago, there was a good deal of discussion (not here) on possible data loss in connection with a particular VIA northbridge and a Soundblaster card. I don't remember the details, but you could try to disable your sound card and/or update/change the IDE drivers (latest VIA 4 in 1 or standard MS- try both). Might make a difference.
