Buffer size

Burn baby burn!

Buffer size

Postby NobodySpecial on Thu Oct 02, 2003 4:20 pm

Another question that troubles me :(

Is large buffer size always good or there is a special condition when it gives better results, and what is importance of this criteria with typical CDRW usage ?

Also, does buffer underrun prevention get harder to achieve with larger buffer size or it works the same way all the time ?

Thanx

large buffer size is always good, specially with older, less powerful puters/cpus.

I'd still prefer 8mb, but it's almost impossible to find one today ('cept Plextor)... but with modern, powerful puters it makes no difference anymore... will just get the new Lite-On (2mb buffer) myself tomorrow

With current drives and buffer under-run protection, it's almost irrelevant what size buffer you have. At 48x burn speed, it's the difference between a blink and a half-blink. Mostly it's a marketing tool.

If your after a cheap 52x32x52 burner, go with the LTR-52327S. If your looking for an all quality 52x32x52 burner, go with the Plextor Premium.

You probably won't be upset with the LTR-52327S if you get one, but, for me, the Premium is the only burner that satisfies my use.
