I just bought a car

Postby MonteLDS on Fri Oct 03, 2003 12:27 pm

I have no idea if anyone is fimilair with my blue car I have. I think I spoke of it when I got in an accident :(

Anyways if not it is a little blue Geo Metro convertable 5spd. The guy gets awesome gas milage (34 top down, 39 top up!) But recently I feel I take it in to be fixed too often. So I am going sell it.

Anyways since little blue was being a little pain I got a Mazda Miata.

It's Black, 5spd, Power Windows, Power mirrors, power brakes?, cruise control, AM/FM tape (which i am currently using with my Sony MZN-707), and that about it. got it for about 6k tax, lic, etc out the door

any Questions :) I will have pictures later

Edit: This is Later *modem users people beware*

Cowboy,

It's a Miata, whoever this Jen is, she probably picked it out.

Congratulations! Black Miata 5 speed convertible = HOT!

The Miata is a very nice convertible, and a BIG step up from a Metro.
Very nice! :)
$6K? Nice deal!
It is a lot more fun to drive than a Metro, is much faster, and looks a million times better.
Mazda is also more reliable, which I know was one reason you were getting rid of your Metro...

I am looking forward to the pics. Black and 5 speed; can't get much sportier than that!

I am sure you're looking forward to taking Jen for a spin in it, if you haven't already???? :)

Enjoy!!!!

If you still owned the Metro and if I hadn't just seen one (they're not exactly common on the roads)

I don't see them off road, either. So where are they? With the YUGOs?

Well, I think the Metro convertible has been discontinued for some time now. Due to that fact, and since they weren't that reliable or popular to begin with, there aren't many left.

PS: I edited my previous post, since I wanted it to focus on the Miata, and the Metro is gone anyway...

I like Miata's. They're just too small for me. I'm only 6'1" and I have to duck down to look through the windshield.

I am almost 6 ' 1" myself.
I sat in the WRX last night at a local dealership; it has a ton of headroom!!
Unfortunately I still can't get over the cheap interior and an exterior that I am not thrilled by.
The performance and handling it offers, AWD security in the snow, mechanical reliability and reasonable price, make it very tempting though!

I think it doesn't offer the head airbags etc. though :(
I have seen way too many bad drivers and stupid moves the last few weeks; it is almost as if someone is saying, yes get the car with the best protection, you might need it soon.

Have you looked at the Mitsu Evo yet? I saw one of those on the freeway today. First one I've seen on the road.

I have looked into it.
I know it kicks serious butt.

1) I just don't like the rear wing.
The rest of it looks pretty sharp! :(

2) It is the only car in a comparo that doesn't even have side air bags, let alone head airbags.

It is also selling for about $6,500 above the WRX's price, which has side airbags standard, just no head airbags unfortunately and which does 0 - 60 in 6.1.
The Evo does it in 5.6, but 6.1 would be fast enough...

The problem is I want something without a wing or other obvious
hints that it is a performance car.

Example: I had a red coupe a while back. I drove through an intersection in a 25 MPH zone at about 25 (luckily); as soon as I went through, my radar detector issued an alert. The two cars in front of me had gone through 5 - 10 MPH FASTER than I had, but they weren't clocked.
The car attracted the police car's (waiting at the light perpendicular to us) attention.
That was without a wing or hood scoop etc......

Nevertheless, I may try the WRX tomorrow and see how I like it.

I still need to sell my old car though; I am hoping to sell it to my colleague (once he gets a few things with his divorce settled in the next week or so), since it saves me from having to post it online (ebay e.g.)and selling it to a total stranger online...

If not the 325XI (AWD) is another alternative.
Or the upcoming G35 AWD, assuming it comes in stick shift.

nice pics. nice car.
i probably wouldn't fit in though (6'4").

BTW what's that wire running out of the dash (stereo?) in the last pic?
is that for the MD player?

Pretty sweet!!

Is that a personal web server you're using? Or are you using a hosting service?

Love the Miata. Learned to drive standard on that.

Wait until you see all the aftermarket performance improvements she's got.
