<edit>grrr grrr grrr, why can't I edit the poll questions anymore?? :x </edit>

<edit2>GRRR GRRR GRRR the original poll and its answers went away after I submitted the first edit. :x :x. Oh well, at least now it lets me redo the poll. Sorry to those who already voted. The score was four votes for "ess ay tee ay" and no votes for anything else when the original poll went up in smoke.</edit2>

<edit3>GRRR GRRR GRRR Now that I have submitted edit2, I see that the original poll didn't actually didn't go away. It was just hiding for a while, and when I submitted the second poll all the categories I set up for the second poll were appended to those for the first poll, including duplicates. Right now I can't edit the poll again, and I suspect after I post this third edit, the poll will go away again.</edit3>

<edit4>GRRR GRRR GRRR Sure enough, the poll did go into hiding again. So I figured I would just delete it and try to start fresh straight from the beginning. What happened? This:

Code: Select all
Error in deleting poll

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 2

DELETE FROM vote_results WHERE vote_id =

Line : 542
File : /www/vhosts/cdrlabs/phpBB/includes/functions_post.php

Sigh... :( I suppose the poll will return again after this post, with all its repeated questions... </edit4>

<edit5>Okay, it didn't show up again, so I will now take the bold step of trying to enter it all over again and start fresh. Wish me luck  </edit5>

<edit6>GRRR GRRR GRRR Aw cr@p! I almost had it, but I forgot the other category. Fortunately, the poll questions are showing up beneath the text edit box this time, so maybe I will be able to simply add the final category just like I did long ago in another poll... :-? </edit6>

Good point, Boone. I tried to add that option to the poll, but I don't seem to be able to edit the poll itself. What's up with that? I'm pretty certain that in an earlier version of phpBB on this site that I was able to edit the poll questions. :(

I originally voted for "ess ay tee ay" in the original poll, so I made the same vote again in the resurrected poll, but I think I actually prefer Boone's "serial ay tee ay". It has more syllables, but it is easier to say.

Actually, I originally voted for the same one as Cfitz, but I changed my vote on this one. I often say "Serial ATA", too. :D

too bad you can only submit a vote for one option.
i sometimes say "ess ay tee ay" and sometimes "sah tah"

When I say SATA I say sah-tuh. When I say Serial ATA (no acronym) I say Serial Ay Tee Ay.

That's what this poll is about. I was trying to guage what the accepted pronunciation is so I can adapt as required and be understood when I speak. 8)

You're welcome; I had some similar problems with a poll I posted a few months back, so I know how you feel.

I don't think there is a correction pronounciation, I think it is more of a matter of prefrence.
