drive suddenly disabled, and windows wont lemme enable it

Postby Zero_Distortion on Sat Oct 25, 2003 4:11 pm

dunno what happened, went to burn a disc then nero asked me to choose a recorder, none were listed, so I pondered, check explorer and there was how D drive (which my burner was), checked hardware manager and it was disabled, tried to enable it and couldn't, anyoen have any bright ideas? I tried checking for new hardware or changes and nada. There have been no changes to this machine is nearly 6 months, its been running like a champ. By the way this is error 22 and the dimwits at microsofts website had this to say "(Code 22) The device is disabled because a user disabled it using Device Manager.
Click Enable Device, which starts the Enable Device wizard." Which doesnt work!

Try right-clicking on the drive's entry in Device Manager and click "uninstall". Then reboot and see if it is enabled.

Well, I'd be interested to hear, but you don't have to post it if you don't want to.
