Microcenter has a 50-pack of Hewlett Packard CD-Rs for $8.92. Not a bad deal for those who hate rebates. I have no idea who makes these.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Awhile ago I picked up several 16x HP 50 pc spindles on clearance at Sears and they were TY. They burned at 40x :o and were great quality discs. Look for the tell-tale spinner on the top of the packaging.

Absolutely, the old 16X HP's were made by TY. Just look at the packaging (spin cap on top) and you can tell right away. I have not bought a spindle of the new HP, but I'm willing to bet they are CMC's, again, look at the packaging.

My bad!!! I probably should have checked the link before posting  , as the packaging definitely is either CMC ar Ritek cakebox packaging. Just wishful thinking that maybe I find more of those great TY HP's.
