Lps to CDs: how do I convert a *.WAV file to a *.cda file ?

Postby stix on Thu Nov 06, 2003 5:26 pm

I have finally recorded some music from LP records to *.WAV and *.mp3 files. Apparently these will play fine on my computer. But they are not recognized on an audio CD player. I would think they need to be .cda files, eh? so how do I turn them into .cda files so I can play them on my stereo system in the other room, or in my car?

The easiest way is to create an audio CD with a program like Nero or Easy CD Creator. Just drag and drop your wav/mp3 files into the compilation. The software will do the rest.

Just make sure you choose to make an audio CD and not a data CD. If you do a data CD, you'll have a disc with some mp3 and wav files on it. :wink:

Hey, Burninfool,

I use both Nero and MusicMatch Jukebox to burn CD-Audios, but mostly MMJB. Both have a normalizing function but I wonder if either one or both "clips" in the process. Do you (or anybody else) have any specific knowledge as to this. If they do, I'll check out that link that you so graciously provided.

Thanks,
Slim

@CowboySlim,
I have tried normalize with Nero and RecordNow DX and they both do a decent job but I don't know if they clip.I recommend using MP3Gain if the files are MP3 or Audacity(amplify filter) if the files are WAV,then burn.
