What is your drive reported as in Nero InfoTool? If it is reported as a Lite-On in there (uses un-modified Lite-On firmware) then yes, Lite-On updates should work, if Verbatim modified the firmware, then it may be a bit of a challenge.

No challenge at all with the right tools, even aviationwiz could do it.

Deffinitely flash to LiteOn firmware for the latest improvements, you'll see better media compatability for sure. But it would be good to know what drive you actually have to be sure.

Well, it wouldn't be as easy as just opening the program, hit flash, restart, and boom, you have new firmware. That is what I meant.

Last time I flashed my drive with a firmware that wasn't "technically" supposed to go on it, I believe the procedure was:

1. Download firmware flasher
2. Download firmware flasher mod tool
3. run firmware flasher mod tool
4. run firmware flasher

I believe the current procedure is:

1. download generic firmware flasher
2. download appropriate firmware
3. run generic firmware flasher using appropriate firmware

The *ONLY* part that could be confusing is figuring out which liteON firmware to use, and someone here can easily tell you that with a little information about your drive. :D
