this drive is model L01P080 which according to Maxtor's site is Ultra Series Hard Drive Kits.
what's the difference between this and the DiamondMax Plus 9 line of drives? model 6Y080P0
both 80GB, 7200RPM, 8MB buffer, ATA/133.
the Ultra Series - says Dynamic Fluid Bearing.

http://www.maxtor.com/en/documentation/ ... d_2003.pdf

this gives specs (seek times, acoustics) for the DiamonMax 9 Plus line but not for the Ultra Series line.

is it just a Retail/OEM difference? are these indeed the same drives?

I've got this exact drive, but the Diamond Max Plus 9 version of it. The exact one dodecahedron mentioned. It's a great drive, but not as good as it's SATA counterparts.

The Ultra Series is the name of the retail kit. Contained within is the DiamondMax Plus 9 drive.

So, dodecahedron, are you going to get one?

For those who are interested, I just checked and the drive is back in stock at Office Depot's on-line store.
