Toshiba 1712 No Limits Firmware

How fast is too fast?

Toshiba 1712 No Limits Firmware

Postby gigabyte on Wed Dec 10, 2003 12:49 am

Hello All!
I recently was buying a wireless controller from a store when I saw that they were selling DVD Roms for $20. I couldn't resist so I picked one up and brought it home. I wasn't sure what company it was, but it was 16x and that was good enough for me.

Anyhow, I install it and I find out that it is a Toshiba M1712. I did a bit of research and I found that you could download and install a No Limits Firmware which will increase the performance of your drive.

Anyhow, I don't have a boot disk so I was wondering where you could get one. Also, has anyone else flashed their drive with this? If so, was it hard? Please help me out.

Thank-you

actually my Toshiba 1712 is flashed with it, for booting i just used my windows me cd and booted into dos with it, then followed the flashing instructions

works great, but the JLMS 166s is just a tad faster at ripping, were talking like 1-2 minutes at best

but the 1712 is still a great ripper

Oh really?

You can get boot images here: http://pioneerdvd.rpc1.org/#BOOTISO

Be sure to use Minimal boot when flashing a Toshiba.
