Tell me friends, isn't there a reason(...) why the firmware for this reader is locked?
1. The reading speed for CSS protected movies is 2x. Why do you think they didn't make it higher?
My opinion: "because the movie is already scrambled. So Toshiba figured that if the movie is scrambled it should not be read at speeds that may impair movie-play reliability." Same reason why you should read Protected game cd's at a certain speed and no higher than that otherwise you will always get a coaster.
That's just one of the reasons. Think about why should a CD/DVD reader spin faster than 52/12x! Why do you think CD reader/writer stop at 52x
a. To literaly des-integrate the disc.
b. To get the worst possible copie.
c. So you can tell your friends how fast it really gets.
Unless you are a professional pirate why not just wait 15-20 minutes to rip a movie?
