Maxtor MaxBoost Caching Software

Postby Ian on Sat Dec 20, 2003 11:11 pm

Has anyone tried this yet?

MaxBoost is performance-boosting driver software which operates under Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP and which is designed to complement your Maxtor ATA or SATA hard drive. The MaxBoost driver intelligently caches data in the host system RAM before it is written to and read from the Maxtor disk drive, enhancing the effective storage speed of your system under a variety of system conditions and applications.

Yeah, awhile ago. No differance that I could tell. It's basically the same thing that Windows alreadys does. But if Windows AND the driver are caching the same data...that's just gonna eat memory.

I've got two Maxtors right now; I think I'll try it again. Maybe the new mobo+WinXP/SP1 will work better than Win2K...
I'll report back later!

Scratch that...I'm not going to try it. It says Hyperthreading must be disabled. Not a chance! That's the only thing making my system run Windoze somewhat quickly!

The old version I had I ran on a P4 1.7GHz/512MG PC2100, with Windows 2000. And as I said-it didn't seem to help.
