How to prevent apps from stealing focus??

Postby BurninMan921 on Wed Dec 24, 2003 2:29 pm

OK, this is really starting to piss me off. I'll be typing or trying to do something in one program, and another will pop up and steal focus. I just had NeroVision pop up while I was trying to type this message!!

Now, I do have TweakUI, and I do have it set to "Prevent Apps from Stealing Focus", but it doesn't work.

God, I hate Windows so much!! Boy do I have to free up the space for Linux soon, before I go nucking futs!! :)

Anyone know of any reg tweaks or apps that can help me out here?

You have installed TweakUI and enabled the correct settings. Have you tried choosing 'Flash Taskbar N number of times' option?

My screen size is 1280x1024 and I don't have this problem. Don't minimize anything, just bring the app your working on top over them. Try this and let us know.

Yup, the flash taskbar setting is set to "3". I even double-checked the actual registry entry that TweakUI makes.

As to not minimizing anything, I'll try that - but I do use the "show desktop" button ALOT - and that minimizes everything...

You guys have the latest versions? (The old ones show up in the Control Panel where new ones show up in their own folder in All Programs). The version I'm using now for XP is 2.00.1.0 .

To manipulate some settings you have to be Admin or Admin equivalent.

(Windows is a nightmare without some of the TweakUI settings, I have been using it without any issues from Win98 or Win95).

HTH / Good Luck.

I have both versions of TweakUI, and as I said, I double checked the entries in the registry with RegEdit. Just a very annoying quirk of windows, I guess...
