What did you get for Xmas?

Postby F1Pilot on Thu Dec 25, 2003 5:18 am

Going against my wishes of not getting me anything major, daughter and wife got me a bunch of Under Amour gear, new laptop bag, new drive, a new guitar pickup, and SPDIF cables.

Just like me when I was a child, my daughter loves penguins, so we got her a bunch of stuff for her with penguins on em. She got a ton of toys, a doll or two and clothes all from the grandparents...my best friend got her a couple of toys and quite a few Leap Pad items (cause he said "she's a smart little girl, and I don't want her to grow up to be like the dummy her daddy is today." :-? ).

I got my wife the ring that she wanted when we were first picking out engagement rings...bunch of movies and CD's...smoothie maker...cappuccino maker and a few upgrades for her computer.

And to go with them: 16 Bottles of Bawls Guarana (soda) www.bawls.com

I got chocolates, a VHS movie called "The 4th wise man", a copy of Brother Sun Sister Moon burned onto 2 DVDs, made from the *legitimate* copy I own on VHS (no DVD version has been released to my knowledge). I still have more gifts to unwrap today at my sister's house though.

The biggest surprise so far was the burned DVDs given to me by my roommate, who up until last night had not been known to own a dvd burner. I'm a little disapointed he used Princo DVDs though :( But it was the thought that counts :D

Is this the version you're talking about? I found a few instances of it here and there on the net...not sure if it's the right one.

I got a $100 Best Buy gift card from my wife and daughter, who knows how much I love the gadgets there.

I bought my wife a new laptop. I also got a bunch of new DVD movies, clothes, and 1:18 scale Maisto models from my family.

The best holiday gift was the company and the food :D

I got a lot of ski gear; I'm going skiing for the first time next week! :D

I also got lots of great computer stuff: an AthlonXP 2000+ processor, a video capture card, and a Lite-On LDW-411S (the same one as I got a little while ago; it was an early Christmas gift).

Congrats! I recommend a professional skiing lesson to start. I remember the first time I ever went skiing. My buddy and I both took personalized lessons, and it helped us tremendously to get started and get more fun out of it.

Wow! yeah, it DOES look like the right one! I've let my friend know, and we will probably go out and buy that now. I'm sure it is MUCH higher quality then our poor VHS tape!

Thanks for the info!

Later additions to my presents list:
1 bottle of Merlot wine
1 get-rich-quick book from my father (just like every other year...)
1 $25 gift certificate for zellers/the bay
1 envelope of $60
Punch Cards -> Paper Tape -> Tape Drive -> 8" Floppy Diskette -> 5 1/4" Floppy Diskette -> 3 1/2" "Flippy" Diskette -> CD-R -> DVD±R -> BD-R

You're welcome, dolphinius_rex! This place has it for a little cheaper. Apparently, there was a petition going around for awhile to put the movie onto DVD...that's the reason for the March 2004 release date.

Hope you have a fun and safe ski trip, CDRecorder!

Go snowboarding instead... and take a lesson.

What did I get? A couple of Transformers DVD box sets, bunch of toys, clothes and the best gift of all... a snow blower!
