Looking for an external Mac/PC compatible CD Writer (Help)

Postby Xorcist on Tue Dec 30, 2003 10:00 pm

The only drive I've come across so far which fits the bill is Sony's CRX85U. However it retails for nearly $300 (even though it's more than a couple years old). I need something in the $50-$100 price range. Does such a drive even extist? USB would be preferable...

Does anyone have any suggestions?

wouldn't FireWire be better for the Mac?

i would assume any external drive that has FireWire would be PC+Mac compatible. maybe USB+FireWire is better (not all PCs have FireWire).

the problem might be software compatibility, esp. on the Mac side.

check in the website of your Mac software to see what drives they support.

Check out the Plextor Premium-U, it's Mac and PC compatible, can't tell you what software to use for Mac though...
