Lite-On LTR 52327s Firmware

Postby Mr. Birger on Tue Jan 06, 2004 3:46 am

On Lite-Ons page for Fimware updates this text moves from the left side to the right all the time.

"Note: Once the drive has been upgraded to new firmware, it can NOT be changed back anymore."

So now I wonder if somebody have tried so put an older firmware in their Lite-On LTR 52327s, say go from R52QS0C back to R52QS0B and if that worked without any flaws.

Yes, you can definitely go back to older firmware revisions without problems. Lite-On doesn't provide or support tools to allow you to do so, but such tools are freely available online.

You wrote that such tools is available on the Internet so now I got another question on that.

Do I need a TOOL to change back to the R52QS0B firmware if I wanted to do that?

I have 2 files with the names QS0B.exe and QS0C.exe, are those 2 files the TOOLS you talked aboute or is there yet another program that I must have?

Yes, you'll need FlashFix to flash back to QS0B. It just modifies the firmware installer from Lite-On to allow you to flash back to an earlier firmware version (which it wouldn't ordinarily do).
