Can anyone tell me what "Flashget" is?Does it have spyware?I have gotten conflicting info on it and was wondering.

It basically downloads the file from more than one source to get it faster, or it downloads it like in 8 different parts simultaneously. Same as all Download Accelerators. I just use the default IE downloading engine, it works fine.

if anyone is interested in download accelerators, here's a short review of some of them:
http://www.safer-networking.org/index.p ... d-managers

it was written by Patrick Kolla (AKA PepiMK), the author and maintainer of Spybot - Search & Destroy.

Unfortunately you guys missed the best DL manager that can open zip files remotely and get just what you want.
Download Mage is the best DL manager I have found.

Thanx for the input fella's.I've never used a d'load manager before.Just straight windows and that's all.The link dodecahedron posted was great(http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=articles&detail=download-managers).Tells you all about what their capabilities are and such.Download Mage is a nice one also.I'm a newbie when it comes to D'load Managers 'cause I have "DIAL-UP"!!!!!!Don't know how effective they'll be but I'll try one.

In fact you should use a download manager because you have /DialUp. I remember the frustration when I had dialup and when server disconnects me when the file I was downloading is alomost 100% and the whole effort is lost.

Download managers will resume broken downloads thus saving you time and money. I have used GetRight and DAP. Both are good. Choose one, and you'll wonder how you did without one all these times...

Cheers.

I've tried leechget and D'load express and they both do ok.I'm using d'load express for ease of use.It works for most things. Some pages I get to require a d'load manager to d'load and it doesn't work sometimes but if I just click on the d'load as regular(if I were to d'load through IE)it works that way also.I've seen no speed increase though.Absolutely none.

Some sites are scripted to reject download accelerators. Maybe because they don't want a single user to occupy higher bandwidth by downloading multiple chunks at the same time. Usually dloadmanagers will capture exe and other types of related content as soon as you click them.

I've noticed quite a few sites were I get rejected when I d'load something mundane but most of the time it works out OK.I wish it made d'loads a little faster though but I won't complain 'cause I know I'm dealin' with dial-up not a Ferrari!!!

Yeah everyone says I should just give in and get DSL.Cable's too much here.I can get Way-fast DSL here for $27.00.I know a few people here who have had trouble with DSL but here where I'm at I'm only .9 miles from the switching station and that adds up to FFFFAAASSTTTT!!!!Cable is $40.00.

hoxlund, I'm sure you meant this as a joke, and I'm definitely sure you don't have kids! ;)

Nice one Slim.....

By the way guys,I noticed a weird thing.I saw that when I was downloading C++ compiler from www.bloodshed.net,DAP supported resuming while LeechGet (1.1 Build 1520) did not support resuming.Strange.......
