Verbatim 32x CD-RW Media

Postby aviationwiz on Mon Jan 05, 2004 6:26 pm

Lets try and keep all the info on the Verbatim 32x CD-RW media here. I just got my pack today, and I will be posting about them later tonight and tomorrow. When I got the package from YesMicro via UPS Ground, first thing I noticed on the media package was on the back, "Made in Taiwan."

The media is identified as Mitsubishi in Nero CD Speed, and it gets to 32x at roughly the 23 min. mark in a transfer rate tests. (Pictures below)

I am using a Plextor Premium with the 1.05 firmware.

I did some tests. No matter how you like testing disks, there must be one method that I did that you do prefer, so enjoy!

what did you write to it?
data? audio? DAO? detail!

did you write on a virgin disc or did you full-erase first?

I have some of these on the way as well, and will post more details when they arrive. I may even do a real review of them :D

dodecahedron,

I just used the Create a Data Disc option in Nero CD Speed. That's with a virgin disk too, first write.

dolphinius,

I think on your review it would be nice to add "media courtesy of aviationwiz"

Yes, I usually do add a little "thank you" to the benefactor... although I did actually buy these CD-RWs you know

Here's a disk that was wiped using Quick Wipe in Nero. Something else to add is that the ISO image appeared to be damaged, as I got some error about the block size not corresponding with the image length, and I couldn't correct it. Not sure if that made a difference. Here it is:

It appears that I may be having some difficulty getting my CD-RWs

This is twice that something coming up from the U.S. has not gotten to me. I am seriously losing faith in the US Postal Service

Although, this is not nearly as bad as the Yamaha CRW-F1 that they lost last month...

"My mother's my sister!"

USPS rocks! How long has it been since your CD-RW's were shipped? If it's been 3-4 weeks, are you sure the shipper used Airmail and not Surface Mail? If you are positive the package was sent via Airmail and after 3-4 it is still not in your possession, you may want to file a claim with the USPS. I hope your package at least has tracking, if not insured.

Well, for the Yamaha drive I'm working on finding that out... for the CD-RWs, it's probably not worth it. Still, 2 out of the last 2 shipments to me have failed to arrive. The Yamaha was shipped a few weeks prior to christmas, and something that was shipped to the U.K at the same time has already arrived...

Yeah, the British Royal Airmail is awesome.

TheWizard,

It was shipped via USPS Airmail on the 7th, making it 10 days today. No tracking number, no insurance. That costs a lot more and at those expenses, I might as well have made it UPS Standard To Canada.
