Should be the same drive as the 811S/X and 851S, just in an enclosure. Search around, and I'm sure you will find what your looking for.

The reason I'm asking is because I'm looking for an external burner and I wanted to know if anyone had any experience with this burner. The other burner I'm looking at is the Plex external. So, I'm trying to decide which would be the best buy for the money. Thanks.

I'd recomend the Plextor (of course, look at my title if you don't see why)

It is proven to be a great DVD burner, fast, and it has high build quality and high write quality. I have not had any problems burning any media of any sort except for Memorex media (which is just bad media to begin with, sometimes it can be great, others time it can be terrible, that is with all burners btw)

A little on the expensive side, but well worth the money if you ask me.

Yes, I did like the Plex and it does look like it's better built. I was leaning towards the Litey cause of the price and because of owning a Litey CDR. I called LiteOn Tech Support and did not much from the Tech. I'll do some more research and see if I can find the Plex at a better price. Thanks for the input.

haha, heres a thought, buy an internal drive and put it in an external case yourself, how does saving yourself $100-$150 sound?:

Looks good. I'll give that a thought. It looks like there is not much difference between the actual LDW-851SX and the external case. Thanks for your advise and time.

no worries man, just get the Lite On.

I just bought an 811S and I like it far better than my TDK 840G which is a rebadged Plexy 708A.

dont get me wrong, I liked the Plextor but I'll be damned if all the BS I went through with Nero and so on was worth it for the money that I paid for that drive.

my 811S has yet to make one single coaster and it was OVER $100 cheaper than the Plextor because I got a smokin' hot deal on it. the drive burns perfectly @ 8X on my current supply of Memorex 4X DVD+Rs.
