I bought one of the KHypermedia drives when it was on sale a few weeks ago, and could not get it to work. I keep on getting tertiary drive failure at POST. It didn't matter if it was CS, master or slave, or which position on the cable, or whether it was alone or with my CD. Also, they have no firmware updates for any of their products on their site...none of them. They finally reponded today to my e-mail asking if they had any-8 days after I sent it. Needless to say, it's been returned and there are no KHyper drives in my future, I don't care if they are free after rebate. 8 days for tech support to respond is not acceptable.

Those DVD-R disks look like no-name generics on the circular, but for that price you can afford throwing a few bad ones away!

All the Khypermedia CD-R's I have ever seen have been made by CMC.

I was just at OfficeMax. The CD-R 100 packs are indeed Imation. I ran across them on their website last night. After going to OfficeMax a few times for their special deals things are becoming somewhat comical. They sometimes put some of the items at the front of the registers on a table, but not always. So everyone runs to the front like today but nothing was put out there. Everyone then heads to the media isle or whatever aisle is appropriate. Not a lot of people knew about the Imation discs so everyone grabbed the Khypermedia 100 packs and ran up front to pay and then promptly ran back to get the proper discs. Same with the Belkin slimline cases. Many will grab the Valuedisc cases or vise versa depending on what is being offered that week.

I picked up the 50 DVD-R for 9.99 after MIR. They are packaged by Starlogic. Haven't had a chance to scan one yet. I also picked a 5-pack of the Imation DVD-R. I had to get a raincheck for the DVD+RW because they didn't get any in. Hopefully it will be filled before the expiration of the rebate offer.

I don't really see many people buying anything else but the discounted items so I don't know how much longer they will keep these offers going. Every week the line waiting outside starts earlier and gets longer. Now it is beginning to look like the day after Thanksgiving every Sunday.

Starlogic isn't even listed on dvdrhelp! That's not a very good sign.

I just got back from office max and the discs were indeed starlogic not imation as I was told. Drove across town for nothing. So who makes the starlogic discs?

The DVD burner hasn't arrived yet so I can't scan them until then. I read in another thread that they are 2x Princos. At any rate, decent enough discs for me to practice with and trade data with others.

I scanned the Imation CDRs (100 pack free after MIR) and they are CMC Magnetics Corporation.

Are these Starlogic or Princo DVD-R's only 1x? No wonder why OfficeMax is almost giving them away. I was hoping for them to be at least 2.4x or 4x.

I have seen Starlogic CD-R's before. At Dollar Tree of all places, 2 CD-R's in mini jewel cases for 1 dollar each.

BillyG,

The Starlogic discs are manufactured by Princo and can be written at 2x from what I have heard.

FYI, 2.4x is only for the + format.

DVD Identifier identifies these discs as Princo with a write speed of 2X.
