Question about Nero Recode

Using the Nero Recode 2.0 to copy a DVD into Nero Digital format, how can that be read? Does a normal DVD player read it, or is Nero Digital some special format that can only be read by the Nero Showtime program? I can't really find any documentation on it.

Can only be played with Nero Showtime and I believe it can be played with a Divx codec installed.It also might could be played on your software Dvd Player.

DivX is a subset of the MP4 format, though they do not follow the MP4 standard 100%, as they do use MP3 for the audio portion, among other things.

98% of DVD Players do not yet support the MP4 video format, but this will soon change with new model DVD Players coming to market.

Nero ShowTime can of course place these files, and if you have the latest Windows Media Player 9 installed, we also install a plugin to allow WMP9 to play MP4 files.

I've been playing with Nero Recode for a few days. WMP 9.0 can play the video and audio just fine, but it cannot display the subtitle. WMP 6.4 can only play the video. In order to play the audio using WMP 6.4, you have to download something like 3ivx. Subtitle still cannot be displayed. Chapters are not available on both version of WMPs as well. Anybody know why/how to display the subtitle? My guess is that Nero Digital uses somekind of propietary format for the subtitle.

Adding Subtitles is not part of the MP4 standard. Ahead thought this was a nice feature, so we provided a solution to incorporate subtitles into an MP4 Video format. When others eventually come around to supporting the MP4 video format, and they are all working on it , they will need to find their own solution for supporting subtitles.

The plugin we provide for WMP9 only allows it to play MP4, it does not include a solution to play the subtitles.
