Problems with Backups > 3.5gp

Postby stuboyle on Wed Sep 15, 2004 3:37 am

I am using Nero BackItUp ver 1.2.0.20 on a Sony DRU-700A. The media I am using is Memorex DVD+RW with a 2.4X write speed. Backups less than 3.5gb in size are successful. Backups greater than 3.5gb in size fail the verification for some of the files. I checked to make sure that the verifcation was not producing a "false positive". I tried another Memorex DVD+RW disk and the results were the same. I have flashed the ROM of my Sony drive to the most current. Here are my system specs:

AthlonXP 3200+
Shuttle AN35N Ultra 400 Mobo
Kingston HyperX PC3500 2 X 256 mb
nVidia Geforce4 Ti 4600 video card
Sony DRU-700A DVD Burner

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks - Stuart

I'd suggest trying other media. (I use Verbatim 4x, don't know anything about the Memorex RW's- they may be OK). You could also try erasing the disc and burning a normal data disc (fill it up). That would indicate if the problem is the backup program or your disc.

deffinatly sounds like a media issue.
Punch Cards -> Paper Tape -> Tape Drive -> 8" Floppy Diskette -> 5 1/4" Floppy Diskette -> 3 1/2" "Flippy" Diskette -> CD-R -> DVD±R -> BD-R
