Problems with Pioneer AO8XL

Postby BTACULAR on Mon Feb 21, 2005 1:03 pm

hi, i'm new to your forums

i use this drive and nero 6 to burn dvds

it seems that it won't burn at 8X, 12X or 16X... the actual times are anywhere between 15-22 minutes which is far slower than my older 4x burner

the firmware i'm using is 1.18

i'm also using memorex 8x dvd r -

thanks

Welcome aboard! :D

Make sure you have DMA enabled. See How to enable DMA in Windows XP (with pictures) (or the appropriate howto for your flavour of Windows in the FAQ section).

If you're using Nero to do your burning, you can show the actual burning speed (not the chosen speed) by setting a flag in the registry. See this post for the registry key or this post for a cut and paste version.

Thanks!

My friend had a similar solution and it worked.

It was stuck in PIO mode and would not change from the device manager screen so I delted the profile and restarted windows and viola!
