PS2 region X Disc (can it be copied)

Postby se00ld on Tue Jul 08, 2003 9:36 pm

I have had DVD region X disc (PS2) a fairly long time and its becoming a bit worse for wear, so I would like to make a copy of it rather than buy a new one. I can't find out if it is a DVD or CDR. I have tried using CD Clone and Nero but neither seem to work. Has anyone been able to copy it? If so how? any replys would be welcome.:).

If you have access to a DVD burner and a DVD RW disc, give it a try.

Of course, you'll need about 4.7gb of HDD space to do it.

You'll have to copy (aka 'RIP') the entire discs contents to the HDD, then burn it back onto a RW disc. I recommend the RW because of the price of regular DVD R blanks.

If the copy works, then burn it onto a regular DVD R disc.

If the disc has copy protection, you'll need special riping software.

www.doom9.org should be able to help you further.

For legal reasons, I won't explain further.

For what I've read and heard i believe that he disc you're talking abaut should be a CD, or it the program itself should fit into a cd. This means that it could have been recirdered into a DVD, witch case you need a dvd-rom drive to read the info, and only then burn it into a cd. give it a try...

Of course, you should check how much space does the image file takes and then you'll be able to know if you can fit it onto a CD.

Of course, like any PS2 title you'll need a modchip to play the copy!!!

Well I am pretty sure it is a CDR as I have just read it on a plextor CD-RW drive. I can see that the file is only 41.7MB long but I still can't seem to copy it. When I copy and paste the contents a "cyclic redundance chech -ERROR" comes up. Its weird though because my DVD rom Drive can view it at all. I have tried to copy on the fly using both a Sony Dru510A and a normal CD-RW but once again it doesn't work. Does anyone now of a way to over come the protection. As this is for personal use of backing up my own disc. I think it's deemed as legal, so please don't hold back if you know how.:).

I think the procedure is "legal" even if it wasn't I would gllady help you...
Anyway, have tried to ake an image? Try getting latest version of Nero and then make an imagine into your hard drive. Don't burn after it. Just make the image and only then use the option burn image... Don'yt do it directly... Report the results to see if it works...
You could also trie Clone CD... ~I've heard that it's a very good program when it comes to bypass copy protections...

I used to had a program that would scan for a protection and it wouls search the internet for the correct patch... Not that I'm thinking of ot, i think it was Clone CD... But give it a try...

I have just copied the image eventually with Clone CD and then burnt the image to a CDR and the playstation doesn't like it. I'll try it with Nero soon, but it if doesn't work I might give up. Cheers for your inputs.:).
