Question about Installing DVD-RW drives

Postby firehawk12 on Sat Jul 12, 2003 1:53 am

Hi, I was just wondering what the "optimum" way of installing a drive is?

I currently have 3 IDE hard drives... at the moment, I have a DVD-Rom installed as a Secondary slave.

Is it okay to install the DVD writer as a secondary slave, or does it need to be master?

Thanks.:)

Welcome to CDRLabs, firehawk12! LD

Yes, the DVD-RW should work fine as Secondary slave.

One other recommendation for you is have your hard drive that you image off of on a different IDE channel than the burner. You will get better results.

Hmm... will it still work if the two drives are on the same channel?
Just slower, I presume?

You are correct. It will work with the two drives on the same channel, but it may work slower that way.
