Samsung SH-S202N Tray Problem

Postby audiodrome on Thu Jun 05, 2008 9:03 am

My fairly new Samsung SH-S202N DVD burner has been acting up lately. When the tray opens, sometimes it hyper-extends and then automatically closes again. It also sometimes makes a strange clicking noise when it closes. Is this anything to be concerned about as far as "alignment" goes? I'm assuming that when the tray is closed, everything is as is should be, so it doesn't really matter what happens when it's open, but I'm neurotic so I have to ask these kinds of questions.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? I guess I'm just concerned that it might lead to something else breaking down and I'd like to buy another one while they're still available.

Sounds like a lemon... If you can, RMA the drive. You could try flashing it with the latest firmware... make sure the drive is empty before you flash.
