scanner advice needed

Postby hammad on Fri Jan 14, 2005 2:10 pm

hi everyone

I want to give a gift to my friend,a scanner price range is 50-75 $.
choices are

canon Iide20

http://www.canon.com.my/product/scanner ... de2030.htm

benq s2w5000u ... =undefined

hp 3400c

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/gene ... e=bus03735

epson Perfection 660

http://www.epson.com.sg/products/scanne ... _660.shtml

i remember 3-4 years ago cnet rated the perfection 660 highest and a editors choice. It was the benchmark for color accuracy, can it still compete with the new generation scanners.Pcworld had given Lide 30 a rating of OUTSTANDING against Epson 1660 .

http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/article/ ... 707,00.asp

but i thought that CIS scanners have less color depth then their CCD counterparts. I also need to know how much optical enlargment a 1200 dpi scanner can do to a passport size photo compare to a 600 dpi . I can compromise with dpi rating if the scanner has the best color and tone accuracy(in its class) .

thanks in advance.
