I could technically ask this in the CD-ROM forum because it's about the CD portion of the drive, but since it's a DVD drive and I didn't know how quickly it'd be noticed and all...Anyways...
Just bought a used Pioneer slot-load 106S/2 DVD drive, 16x DVD, 40x CDR for a cheapie HTPC box I'm building. The DVD portion works absolutely fantastic. However, in CD-ROM mode the drive has an insanely high spindle speed resulting in the machine sounding like a Concorde preparing to taxi. I need to slow the CD-ROM drive down some, perhaps to between 16x and 24x to quiet this down so it isn't intrusive. DVDIdle Pro doesn't seem to do what I want; any other solutions out there?
