The common thought on this is that the CRX225 is based on the LTR-52246K versus the LTR-52246S design the CRX220 uses.

So... what does that mean?

Is the 225 any better than the 220? I am just thinking buying one.... :)

The 225 is smaller in size. I've also heard that it might use P-CAV instead of CAV when rewriting but that is unconfirmed.

Surprisingly, I now believe that this drive is actually an OEM LTR-52327S since they have the firmware version: QYB1

The question is now whether it is actually a 52/32/52 drive though it's sold as 52/24/52 or if the firmware limits the drive to 24x.

Hi.
I bought a CRX225E yesterday. It comes with firmware QYB1 and is manufactured in China, May 2003.

It is a OEM drive and didn't come with 24 or 32X CDRW media... so I'm not sure about its rewrite speed. How can I tell the maximum rewrite speed without actually inserting a cd of that kind?

How can I probe if it is a LTR-52327S?
Will the firmware of that drive help in getting rid of the turbo boost function?
A lot of questions... I hope someone can help... :)

Hi.
1) You cna probably check the max. rewrite speed using NeroInfoTool. Run it WITHOUT any discs in your drive and see what comes up.

2)About it being a Lite-On 52327S, just wait until Dave (dhc014) or Ian have some confirmed data about the origins of this drive.

You'd need to have a 32x CD-RW disc. Please send me a backup of your firmware. If it truely is a LTR-52327S, then using one of those firmwares would get rid of TurboBoost.
