Sound Card - Retail or OEM?

Postby georgeg on Tue Aug 24, 2004 7:37 pm

I'm looking to buy a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz to replace my SoundBlaster Live Value. Prices are much better for OEM packaged cards than the retail versions. Would I be missing anything by purchasing the OEM rather than the retail version?

Not really.

I buy OEM 99% of the time. Just download the latest drivers and ignore the drivers on the included CD-ROM.

Performance will be the same as a retail box.

The software extras may differ.

I've had the TB Santa Cruz OEM and for over two years and it works great. It is great for capturing audio! You may want to look at some of the other sound cards that Turtle Beach offers. They just released some new ones.

Spaz is right.Only the software that accompanies is changed, most of the time.Rest hardware is all the same.
