If anyone is looking... the Pacific Digital that I just purchased at Staples is a BenQ 1620. Look for U-30265-RV2 beneath the bar code. A thread over at Fat Wallet confirms that number. Sonic software is included in the box.

Apply the coupon noted by rcgreen and the cost is about $50.00 after rebate and tax. Thanks rcgreen. :D

The store that I went to had only beige bezel units. No spares of any color in the box either...

I did notice that Newegg has the retail drive with black and beige bezels. $67 shipped after $10 rebate.

I jumped on this drive at lunch in order to use the coupon. Just too cheap to pass up... picked up a couple of TDK made in japan spindles from BB also.

I am kind of weird about buying tech stuff, I feel paralyzed to buy unless it seems like a special deal. So finally entering the DVD burning world now. :D

What?

It worked for me. The coupon gets applied before the $30 rebate. And even if it wasn't you could add a $20 media spindle. Well I think the coupon expired now but maybe there's another one coming. Only problem with the drive is it only came with a 40-wire IDE cable instead of 80 wire.

Came with G7C9 firmware. I'm just starting to play with it.
