Got a hot deal you want to share? Need one?

Staples Ad - 2/29 thru 3/13

Postby Ian on Fri Feb 27, 2004 12:35 pm

Staples Ad is up.

http://instorespecials.staples.com

I didn't have a lot of time to go through it, but I saw this:

Pacific Digital 8x DVD+/-RW - $99.94 after $20IR and $30MIR

I know some of you have had problems finding the PD drives at Office Max.

Yeah, I called OfficeMax stores in two states and none had any.

Does Staples pricematch? I wonder if they would pricematch OfficeMax's ad. Anybody know?

$69.99 is a great price to pay for the drive. $99.94 isn't so great when they are the same price online for the OEM drive and you don't have to deal with a rebate.

Now only if someone had Pioneer DVR-107 drives for $99....

They'll most likely match the advertised price prior to rebate, but not the AMIR price.

Yeah, OM's "out the door price" is $119.99 whereas Staples is $129.94. So its a little bit more off the Staples prices.

Of course if they require the product to be in stock, then you're kinda outta luck since I can't find an OM that has one.

Hi Ian and Everyone, here are my 2 queries:

#1 - I just found these online codes (20 off 100 use code 95885 and 20 off 200 use code 23907) for STAPLES but there's also a $30 off $150 that expired on 2/27. Since there's supposedly a 3-day grace period on STAPLES coupons, could someone walk into STAPLES on 2/29, snag the Pacific Digital 8x DVD+/-RW, and expect to pay $70 after rebates in the hopes that that $30 coupon will work?

#2 - What kind of drive is Pacific Digital? NEC, Lite-On...? Is it a good brand because you folks in the forum really seem to be after the Pacific Digital drives in OfficeMax even though those were only + instead of dual drives like this one.

Thanks for any help,
garth

It can be one of about 5 different drives depending on what they had when they were filling boxes that day. Check the Office max deals threads and you'll find out what serial numbers are for what drives. I found a LiteOn 851 with a 42 serial and I bought a NEC2500 with a 41a serial number. They have pretty much the same price this week also and maybe you can get Staples to at least match the out the door price from OM or try both and see which place has the drive you want to try. My stores had pallets full of drives last Sunday.

There is actually another one that expires on March 5 (a $30 off $150 coupon) although the coupon clearly states that the $150 must come from purchases that do not have instant rebates. Which the Pacific Digital drive does.

So I guess its a question of whether or not your Staples will give it to you, or if that coupon code will flag it automatically or something. Could be worth a try though. Of course, since the price of the drive is actually $129.94 after the instant rebate, you'd need to spend an additional $20.06 to use the coupon.

Should be a NEC 2500, they seem to have more of those then OM did.
