Toshiba Encourages Chinese To Produce Cheap HD DVD Players

This is an interesting read..

Toshiba is kind of making a deal with the devil by giving HD DVD technology to the Chinese. Since they too make HD DVD players, they could easily screw themselves by doing this. Then again, this is a great way to get HD DVD to the masses and compete with the zillions of PS3's that will be out there next year.

Toshiba just waived the ability to make any money on their HDDVD players... but I'm sure they don't care because they're aiming to make money on the royalties from the technology itself.
