USPS SUCKS!!

What was that?

USPS SUCKS!!

Postby CowboySlim on Thu Aug 18, 2005 10:41 pm

Well, I never thought that I would be like Wiz, but it has come to this:

Track your package

Date Time Location Service Area Checkpoint Details
Aug 16, 2005 --- WARRENDALE PA US Departure Scan
Aug 15, 2005 06:59:00 PM WARRENDALE PA US In transit
Aug 09, 2005 05:59:00 PM BELL CA US In transit
Aug 08, 2005 06:52:00 PM BELL CA US In transit
Aug 06, 2005 --- US Carrier notified to pick up package
Aug 04, 2005 06:29:00 PM HEBRON KY US Arrival Scan

OK, so leaves Hebron, Ky for Bell, Ca. So what?

Well, Bell, Ca is a don't go there at night city just east of LA.
But it is about 20 miles north of my house.
So then it is off to Warrendale, PA? 2,800 miles farther east?
WTF?
Then departure scan, for where? Boston? Miami?

This is worse that all the FedEX and UPS foul-ups in the other two threads wrapped into one!

What service type is it?

USPS doesn't offer tracking, only delivery confirmation for most services, and as such, is only guaranteed to have delivery information, all other information is just you getting lucky. Either way... yeah, it's FUBAR, but that's the USPS for you.

At any rate, the Bell, CA USPS facility is almost universally recognized as the worst facility in the entire system.

That would explain why it took 7 business days to go from the Bell, CA sort facility to my local facility. The method is USPS Package Services, basically, ground. Granted, I am across the country from California, but I've sent stuff cross country via Package Services before, and it never took 10 business days to reach its destination; which is the time frame I am looking at for my delivery.

I still like USPS, I'll just dread the day when a package of mine is routed through Bell, CA again. :-?

I guess they do track now as I just clicked on the link provided by Amazon.

Geez, I didn't know a thing about Bell and how bad it is.

Warrentown may just send my package back there as it is close to my area.

Then where will Bell send it next? American Samoa?

OK, finally got to my house yesterday, 8/23, after its second pass through the Bell, CA sorting facility.

So that is 19 days from its original shipdate of 8/4 from Paducah, KY, or 15 days from the projected arrival date of 8/8.

Now, I realize that Wiz and others have had issues with FedEx and UPS, but have any of you had a delivery that took FOUR times longer that it should have?

OMG!

My mom was home today, and she just happened to be looking out the window when the mailman came, and *SAW* the mailman put the "sorry we missed you" notice in the mailbox. They never tried to ring the doorbell, knock on the door, or anything.

Wiz,

You need an old fashioned front porch with a glider, a rocking chair, a washing machine, and a flea scratching dog.

Then you can sit there waiting for the mail carrier, UPS driver and FedEx drivers to show up and then you won't get those can't deliver messages. :P

How right you are, Dode!

I know. I used to live there many years ago.

Then after we moved away, I would spend summers with an aunt who lived about 2 or 3 miles from where Wiz waits for his deliveries. :P

It's kind of a swinging dealie that doesn't hang from something above. It is supported by feet things on the ground. Then there are column things , one at each end, that lead up to pivots up in the air. A chair deal is suspended from the pivots so that it swings back and forth. But the seat is kind of a park bench deal seating two or three people.

Be sure to wear your Zaptopi when swinging with others because you be close to them and they might try to control your mind.

In close quarters I usually put another over my hat as extra protection. I'll find a photo of that because you can see the external Zaptopi. In the photo at the left, you can't really see the primary Zaptopi under my hat.

Yeah, that's right. And a plastic Coleman cooler of Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer for the good ol' boys, Bubba and Jimmy Bob, and a bucket for them to piss in so they don't have to go in the house and the plummin's plugged up anyway.

Geez, RailroadWiz,

That's just 20 miles, or 60 minutes, of the Fwy from me.
Want me to go up to Bell and get it and put in on an eastbound Greyhound?

I don't like Media Mail for a few reasons, one of which is its slowness. But, uhh, didn't we already agree that the sorting facility in Bell, CA is the worst in the nation? :)
